Cincy Business Courier– It looks like the Big East membership is paying off already for Xavier University. It’s selling standing-room-only tickets for the first time ever. Saturday’s showdown against conference-leading Creighton University, ranked ninth nationally, is sold out, Xavier said Wednesday. But it’s making a limited number of standing-room tickets for the north balcony above the student section and for the upper-level concourse. Fans can buy those tickets only through the Xavier Athletics Ticket Office, either in person or at www.GoXavier.com.
Xavier’s Cintas Center is selling standing-room-only tickets for the first time ever since it opened in 2000. Cintas seats 10,250 and has sold out 6 times this season, but with the #9 ranked Creighton Blue Jays coming to town the demand is so high that capacity had to be raised. This will be the second time this season Xavier will play their new Big East foe. The first meeting was a high scoring thriller in Omaha with the Bluejays edging out the Musketeers 95-89. Xavier’s NCAA tournament hopes are still questionable at this point, but with a big home win against a top-ten ranked team it should help solidify a spot in the field of 68.
