As most startups employees know, work is anything but a 9-to-5 job. Long hours, crazy meeting schedules, constant travel, big wins, and sometimes unfortunate setbacks. It’s a grind. Fortunately, thanks to the folks at the Greater Cincinnati Venture Association (GCVA) they gave us some time to put down our cell phones and smart casual wear for a relaxing game of wiffleball and a homerun derby. In the first ever Founders vs. Funders wiffleball event, startup companies from the Brandery (Cincinnati) and Uptech (Covington, KY) squared off against their bosses at the indoor “ballpark” of Rhinegeist Brewery. It was a smashing success filled with a lot of good memories, and even our founder was fortunate enough to bring home the big prize! Facing off against a tough field of 32 competitors, Alex Burkart was able to win the Homerun Derby and a check for $1,000! Let’s hope he puts those winnings to good use. A big thanks to the GVCA and Vance VanDrake for putting the event together. It was a great opportunity to get a bunch of creative and talented individuals in one place to show their sporty sides.
